Day 1…London

Not sure when I will post this. We are in London for 12 hours between flights. We landed at 9:30 AM which is 4:30 in the morning back home! It is cold and grey out and we are beat.

The flight was interesting, but we didn’t get much sleep and Nancy is asleep as I write this. The food was very good and there was a great selection of movies. But Nancy’s audio didn’t work and mine had a problem with one ear cutting in and out. That said, Captain America was better than I expected it to be. When we got on board, we were offered “sleep suits” to change into. Kind of reminded me of black thermal underwear I took with me to Alaska a few years ago but they were not as warm and it did keep your clothes from getting wrinkled when you slept. Make that tried to sleep. The seats transform into flat beds but they are hard as a piece of plywood. I managed to get a few hours sleep, but Nancy didn’t get much at all.

We landed at Heathrow Terminal 3 and cleared customs relatively quickly. It just seemed like once we got off the plane, we walked far enough to get to Kenya. We had a hotel reservation in Terminal 5 which is connected by train. Eva called us just as we landed to warn us that it was difficult to take the train with luggage so we simply checked in for the next flight and left the luggage with them. We got to the room about 10:30 local and Nancy has been asleep since then. She can get another hour and a half is she is lucky and then it will be time to get ready for the next flight.

And now the reason for not knowing when this will be posted. The Sofitel wants 15 pounds for internet access! That’s not happening so this will wait until Nairobi.

Update; I am posting this from the Virgin Atlantic Upper Class lounge. Got here late so we are grabbing a quick bite before the plane. Will add the experience at security later.
